Mirabai Ceiba is a musical project founded by Angelika Baumbach (harp and voice) from Mexico and Markus Sieber from Germany (guitar and voice). Angelika grew up near Mexico City and started her musical career at the age of 15. With her group Cielo Y Tierra, she was signed to Warner Bros and toured the USA and Mexico. Markus grew up near Dresden, Germany, and had a successful musical career in bands such as Sternraffer and Ponyboy Curtis. He also worked as an actor. When Angelika and Markus met at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2001, their musical perspectives merged and the result was their first album, Flores, released on Spirit Voyage in 2003. They went on to record Mountain Sadhana in 2006 and their third album is due for release shortly.
